The worlds that Roe creates, whether it be futuristic combat games or the lush landscape of Silica, are well-crafted and immerse the reader in a complete sensory experience. He has an eye for action, as is evidenced by the novel's strong opening sequence, and he has obviously spent significant time and energy developing the history and peoples of this future.
The action is well written and has a great pace. The story has elements of various sci-fi but is still it's own original setting... The characters have depth making the reader care about them and what happens to them. I loved the mixture of the fantastic and the realistic blended so well.
